What our project terms mean.
Plain-English definitions for the words on our project form — what we mean by a highlight reel, a REMI workflow, or an ISO switched broadcast — plus a few questions people ask before they fill it out.
Working with us
How do I get a quote?
Fill out the project form — it takes about two minutes. We read every inquiry ourselves and reply within one business day, usually with a question or two and a rough number.
Where are you based?
Washington, D.C. We work across the D.C. metro area and beyond, and have shot as far afield as Costa Rica — tell us the location on the form and we'll scope it accordingly.
What do I need to have ready before I fill out the form?
Nothing formal. A sense of what it's for and roughly when helps us answer faster, but “not sure yet” is a fine answer to nearly every question on it — that's what the conversation after is for.
Deliverables you need
What each checkbox on the form actually gets you.
Finished edit
The final, polished video, ready to publish — color corrected, sound mixed, graphics and titles in, exported in whatever format you need. This is the product, as opposed to raw or rough footage.
Live stream
The live broadcast itself, delivered in real time to a platform (YouTube, Zoom, Facebook, a private embedded player) as the event happens — not a file delivered afterward.
Social cutdowns
Short, re-edited versions of a longer video, trimmed and reformatted for social feeds. Same source footage, shorter runtime, different aspect ratio and pacing — a 3-minute brand film becomes a 15–30 second vertical clip for Instagram, LinkedIn, or TikTok.
Highlight reel
A short, high-energy recap of an event or project — the best moments cut together, usually a few minutes long. Used to promote an event afterward or summarize it for people who weren't there. Sometimes called a “sizzle reel.”
Podcast episodes
Audio, or audio-plus-video, episodes edited and packaged for podcast distribution — trimmed, leveled, often with intro/outro music, ready to publish to podcast platforms.
Audio-only mix
A standalone audio version of the production, mixed and mastered on its own without picture. Useful for radio, a podcast feed, or accessibility.
Raw footage
The original, unedited camera and audio files exactly as captured — no cutting, no color work, no mixing. For a client who wants to do their own editing, or wants an archive of everything shot.
Captions
The spoken dialogue as text, synced to the video — either burned into the picture (open captions) or as a selectable track (closed captions). Matters for accessibility and for social platforms, where sound is often off by default.
What's it for
The "what's it for" dropdown is grouped by the same four services as the rest of the form.
Video Production
Brand or promotional film. A polished video that markets an organization, product, or service — meant to build awareness or persuade. Not a record of an event; a piece of marketing.
Training or internal comms. Video made for people inside the organization — onboarding, how-to or process training, a leadership message. Not intended for public marketing.
Testimonial or interview series. A set of on-camera interviews — clients, employees, or outside experts — used to build credibility. Client testimonials, case-study style content, “meet the team” pieces.
Podcast or recurring series. An ongoing, episodic production: the same format, recorded and released repeatedly, rather than a one-off video.
ProAV Production
Conference or annual meeting. Full live-event production for a conference, member meeting, or shareholder event — staging, screens, audio, multi-camera coverage of a scheduled program with an agenda of speakers.
Press event or announcement. Live coverage of a press conference or public announcement. Typically shorter and more time-sensitive than a conference, often produced for immediate media pickup.
Concert or performance. Multi-camera live production of a musical or stage performance — camera switching, stage lighting and screens. Usually the highest production value in the ProAV category.
Event coverage. General-purpose live documentation of an event — a gala, an awards show, a conference — without necessarily requiring an elaborate multi-camera control room.
Cloud / REMI Production
Zoom Event. A production run through Zoom's own Events platform — we manage the production behind a standard Zoom Event or Webinar (speakers, screen shares, Q&A) for the audience watching inside Zoom.
Zoom ISO Switched Broadcast. A more advanced version of the above: every individual source — each speaker's camera, each screen share — is recorded as its own isolated (“ISO”) track, in addition to the live-switched program feed. After the event, we can go back and re-cut a polished program from the raw isolated feeds, rather than being limited to only what was switched live.
Venue/MC SRT transport to Cloud. A signal from the venue or the MC's camera is sent over SRT (Secure Reliable Transport, a low-latency internet video protocol) up to cloud infrastructure, then routed into the production switcher as if it were a local camera. This lets us produce a show using a contribution feed from a remote physical location without a satellite truck or a dedicated fiber line.
Other
Something else. A catch-all for anything that doesn't fit neatly into the categories above — a nudge for anyone unsure, or with a hybrid need, to just describe it in their own words in the “Tell us about it” field.
